“Time flies when you're having fun.”

In college we have so much time in our hands that we just end up doing nothing. We end up doing our homework and even study at the last minute. We try to motivate ourselves to join a club or get involved or even get our work done early, but that never happened. I notice that when we siting in class time goes by so slow that everyone eyes in that one clock. I never know where or how time past by that fast. The topic in our INQ class was time management; our professor asked the class to write down almost everything we do for a whole week straight.  Making sure we put how much time we spend doing homework and even socializing with friends. I was thinking I manage my time GOOD and EFFECTIVLY. I starting planning my “time” a head, that might sound funny but I did.  I’ll do all my homework an advance so I can have more time for myself.  At the end of the week I look at how my time sheet paper. I notice that over the weekend I work a lot at my job back at home, the total hours was 30 in 2 ½ days. So I did not do too much time socializing this weekend. I don’t know how to count the hours of homework because when I’m doing it I’m with friends which takes longer to do. I also get my homework done right after that class, but I spend 2-3 hours on homework a day because all the reading. I notice that with all this time I don’t get enough time to sleep. I go to bed late and wake up early. I also notice that I spend a lot of time eating in Conn Hall with my friends and sister; sometimes we will be there for hours just talking and laughing. Looking back at the time sheet it looks like I live there (kind of funny). The one thing that I need to change in my schedule is finding time to sleep and finding a place to do my homework quietly. I can’t really get my work done at night because I get to tired or my roommate and I would spend half of the time talking or goofing of.

The position requires an ability to promote student academic success; provide leadership for positively managing a diverse student community; and applying student development responses to residence hall community development, student concerns, staff supervision, student organization advising, and educational & social programming. Me Judging NO who am I to judge PEOPLE  blogs

First, let’s start by saying that I don’t have the right to grade people blogs; everyone put their time and effort in their blog. Time is a big thing in everyone life. Time is very precious, for every minute or seconds you use, you will never be able to gain it back. You can agree that some people might spend more time on theirs. To me looking at all the different blogs, everyone did a great job. To me, if they follow all the requirements and show that they tried then that is “A” material. I can tell that people are starting to be good at blogging.  There’s a lot of blog that stood out to me by the way it fun to read. Some of the headings are great. Every blog is different in its own way. All the blogs have different colors, the heading are different, and there stories behind the picture. I feel like if I’m not sure what to blog about I can look at a few blog to help me. If I have to give a grade I’ll give everyone an “A” for trying. I won’t grade anyone but I can list a few blog that stood out to me.

Kiersten Bernier her heading stood out a lot, I think a title can say a lot about a person. It was really good to follow on what she was saying on every blog.  I like the picture and how everything connects back to the main topic. I also found the readings in Angela Caputo’s blog to be well organized, including pictures that did a good job depicting what she was talking about. Besides the reading stuff, she knows how to design their page. .I found her blog to be very appealing physically, with a pretty background. Don’t get me wrong there more blog that I think was great. Everyone should get an ‘A’ for trying.

 THE HANDBOOK
Interring the college life it was like a different planet. I did not know what to expect, the only thing that was coming in my head was to always be open minded about everything, always make sure to keep your career and goal in mind, and never give up when things was going wrong. Lastly to keep smiling even when you not happy. That what I was always be thought. Before college I would sit there and think all the bad things that would happen to me the first day of everything. I thought in college you would be facing mean and rude professors who would not help you with anything, and give you lots of quiz, test and homework. I was so wrong. One thing that every professor had thought me was time, time, time is everything. Managing time is everything if you want to get a head. As student we have to apply ourselves. We can’t just wait for something to happen. Their two different kinds of friend in this world that you would be face with. Friends who help you to move to the next step in life or friends who look at you and see what step you going to take. We have to always be in a lookout for different opportunity that being handed to us, there very little of that to come. One of the professors stated that” your work will be the reflection of yourself.” I really did not understand that. One thing that I learned for sure was that if you struggling in a class you could get extra help from the professor in their time of hours. Or you can go get help for any subject you are struggling in. they’re a lot of student, staff members who are willing to take time and affect to help you understand what you need to know.

Campus Safari #3 health Center           As a child I hated going to Doctor appointments, I made sure that I was always healthy. Going to school never I’ve I once been in the Health Center. I thought it was a scary place, like a different world. On my mind I would picture it to be like seeing a lot of sick dirty people who would have a running noise and face turning all type of colors. My goal was to visit the SCSU Health Center, so I did. It was pretty easy to find. The location was wintergreen Ave. it right across the street in the other side of Chase Hall. The staff seemed so friendly to everyone, and always with a smile on their face. Observing the place I notice there a lot of thing you can learn with the different pamphlets. But my goal was to find some information on what some problem college student will face. I find that a lot of freshmen end up going to the ER for drinking. One thing that passes my eyes was how energy drink has a big effect in a negative way. Student would not get enough sleep before class so they think that drinking energy drink it the best solution. It increase blood pressure, affect your nervous system and more. Also it make you have less energy to do things them before. The Health center thought me a lot today and so happy that I went. I did not know that they give out condom just saying, they really trying to keep us safe.

Staying in your own bubbles

I’ll be the first one to Amite this, I’m not very good at making new friends or even meeting new people.  As a child I was the girl who had to stay inside because”the world was a bad place” quoting my parents. I was the girl who would stay in front of the window all day watching kids run around and laughing. I knew everyone in the neighborhood, adults and children by their personality thought that window. I know for a fact that they did not even know if I was in that bright blue house or even my name. Growing up I did not go to a public school. I went to a private school where you couldn’t do anything “bad”. High school was a big thing for everyone hearing people talk about homecoming, school events and most of all PROM. For the past three years of high school I went to a technical school it was a trade school. To tell you the truth behind it I did not learn a thing. It was supposed to help you find a career in high school and lead you to start working on it. 12 GRADE was a chance to make friends fast, was the chance to try new things, to be a new person, dress how I want to not by the school rules I went to a public school that was my 18 birthday wish and present. I made 3 best friends, who thought me a few things about high school.

Sadly none of my friends came to SCSU so it all over for me again. Trying to make friends it harder than I thought; But I’m starting to get the hang of things. Over the summer I did the SEOP program which gives me a head start on friends. Now I know 50 something students now I just need to find a way to keep in touch with then. Hopefully college gets better for me. My roommate is really cool, she not bad at showing me how to meet new people.

Everyone was born with a talent

Over the past years of our life we have heard this saying “practice make prefect”.  We hear it from our professors, coaches, and friends and mostly from our parents. When were not good at something we expect someone to motivate us by using that saying “Practice make Prefect “the more we practice the better we are. Come on now, we all were not born to be prefect at everything in this world. We all have something were not good at. We could practice every day of the week but we just cannot get any better. For an example, I believe that you have to be born to be a singer. You cannot just wake up one day in put that on mind that you going to be a singer you have to have a talent for it. Hard work doesn’t mean you going to be good at something; although it does contribute to you being good at it. Ultimately talent in hard work will make you good at something.
Ethan Bortnick, is a young boy who start playing the piano at age 3 year-old. By the age 5 he was already making his own pieces. Also Profurn with great people like Nelly Furtado,Gloria Gaynor and Patti LaBelle. Also this young boy does not need to practice in order to memorize the pieces. Akrit Jaswal (Child Surgeon - The Smartest Kids in The World). 7 years-old young man from India did surgery on a local girl who had suffered burns on her hand. Now the youngest doctor and attend some University at the age of 11 years. Do you think that they had time to practice to do what they’re doing today? You have to be born that smart. Most of the Rules I do agree with like rule number 7 “find someone to kick your butt if you fall of track” everyone need someone to push then to strive to do better in life. I do not believe on “10,000-hour rule,”

What can I say about blogging

What can I say about blogs and blogging? Over the past days I been trying to blog or even trying to get the hang of it. To tell you the truth I never knew about blogging, I love it now I can blog about anything that comes to mind. Looking at other people blog it amazing how people can post picture and video; that goes with their summary of whatever it was there posting about. It gives who ever reading then a little picture on their mind. I also find out that you can put a picture of yourself and do a little summary about yourself. It gives the audience information about the blogger. There a lot of thing you can do for your page to look different then everyone else. Blogger customize their blog by adding picture of themselves, the different backwards, and also video that usually caught my attention. Also people come up with different heading or tittle. I’m still getting use to the whole blogging and almost getting a hang of things. My friend was teaching me how to blog, at first I thought it was very difficult to do but it ok and starting to love it
My page, my blog. I want it to be something that people always want to look at. Different pictures, videos, tittles those are something’s that caught my attention. When I start blogging more I’ll be creative. I would want people to leave comment under my blog if they like it or they have something to say. I want my blog to be interesting to people, not boring. I want to be able to meet new people that share the same idea with me. I like how the blogs where really fun to read and you are able to understand what they trying to say.

A new start to a new journey

A new start to a new journey

My four years of high school didn’t mean much to me. I was always working a lot to provide for my family and myself. I was not that type of girl who was always invited to party or hangout. My whole high school year I didn’t make as much friends I suppose to. I always told myself maybe next year I’ll get involved in things going on in the school, maybe I’ll have a hand full of friend but work and school work got in the way.
Going to college was always something that was on my mind. I have to hear that from my parent almost every day for the past four years of high school. Knowledge is the key to open doors, and different opportunity in life the more doors you can open the more successful you will be in life. I never got what my parent trying to say or even the meaning of that. Until they told me that if they came to America when they were younger they would not be doing the job their doing right now.
Coming to SCSU was a new journey and a new path that I will go through. SCSU had given me a second chance. I was not accepted to Southern fully. I had to prove to then that I can do it; I had to do the SEOP program for five week. It thought me how to manage my time and how to get my work done. I learn that I can’t quite even if I have a long way to go.  I thank god for letting me have this opportunity. I made a lot of friends that I could go in get help from. I know where to go if I have any question. I just LOVE SCSU AND NOTHING COULDN’T GET ANY BETTER.
